3rd Cycle
Students in the 3rd Cycle of basic education (7th, 8th and 9th grades), aged between 12 and 15, are in an important stage of transition marked by the development of autonomy, personal identity, and the strengthening of social skills. It is a period for consolidating fundamental learning and preparing for secondary education, requiring greater responsibility, organisation skills, and critical thinking.
In this cycle, students are expected to:
- deepen their mastery of reading, writing and mathematical reasoning;
- develop critical, creative and scientific thinking, applying knowledge in different contexts;
- acquire digital and communication skills to prepare them for today’s challenges;
- value active citizenship, respect for diversity and collaborative work;
- cultivate habits of independent study and problem-solving strategies;
- recognise the importance of self-knowledge and vocational guidance as they prepare for future decisions.
